J.G.I

2016. Video. 3:44.

Jose Garmendia Iriondo (J.G.I) was unjustly accused of lending trucks to the Popular Front in 1938. After being imprisoned in Fort San Cristobal, he was executed and buried somewhere near the town of Ibero in Navarre.  His family was never able to recover his body in order to give him a proper burial.

In December 2015, after 78 years, an excavation took place at an area of land where various bodies, including that of Garmendia, were thought to have been buried. This video films the event, while Jose’s daughter relates the story about her father and how his body was never found.

In this excavation, Jose’s body was not discovered.
